Mount View Middle School

April - Karaoke & Pizza Night to support Operation Smile!
The Mount View Middle School Community Outreach Committee would like to extend a HUGE 'Thank You" to Solana's Pizza for their amazing support of this fundraising/awareness effort.  They donated ALL the PIZZAS!  This was very significant since we didn't sell as many as we had hoped.   Their act of generosity afforded us the opportunity to still send a donation to Operation Smile  Also, thank you to all the students and families that came out to this event.  Your support combined with Solana's Pizza made it possible to pay for one full surgery! Way to go MVMS!

Operation Smile provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe.  Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. A child with a cleft has twice the odds of dying before their first birthday. Children with cleft conditions who survive may have difficulty eating, speaking, hearing or breathing properly. In some places, they are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford the surgeries they need to live a productive life.

March - Ice Cream Social to support Alice's Dream Foundation for Rett Syndrome!

November/December - Project Giving Tree & Cookies for the homeless!
November and December have been busy!  Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our school community, lots of bellies will be fuller, feet will be warmer and drier, and a family of 6 will be happier knowing they have a local community that cares about them.  Over 106 pairs of boots (pictured in white bags below) were delivered to our adopted pre-school children of Head Start along with 70+ grocery bags brimming with food!  The following Falcon Time classes did an amazing job with December's food collection: Brennan, Bross, Brady and Lagreca (Brady's class had the most!).   Also delivered were your generous contributions to the Howard County family of 6 that we adopted this holiday season.  The Charity's Angels even found time to bake some cookies to accompany lunches being provided to the homeless and make mailbox treat for MVMS staff to show appreciation of supporting the B
ackpack Buddies Program.
A special shout out to Girl Scout Troop 1900; they purchased and decorated the 106 bags that were used to deliver the boots.  It was a special touch from a special group of girls! Thank you to the following parent volunteers who provided the delivery of these items: Chele Ruetsch, Sharon Carpenito, Pascale Fagerstrom and Meredith Parks. Last but not least, thank you to Mrs. Parson!  Without her organization, dedication and commitment, these programs would not be possible.
