The Latest News....

The Falcon Academic Team and the Community Outreach Spring Club are accepting new members NOW!  Pick up a permission form from the grey tower outside of Mrs. Mako's room today!

  • Falcon Academic Team:  This is a club in which students compete by answering questions that test their knowledge about science, art, history, literature, humanities, mathematics and anything else you might imagine. The club meets right after school from 2:30 -3:30 on Thursdays (and a few Wednesdays), beginning January 19th.  Members must be picked up promptly at 3:30. Permission forms are due on Wednesday, 1/18 and can be picked up in the Media Center.
  • Community Outreach Club:  This is a club for students to design and implement projects that serve our greater community.  The club meets in Mrs. Parson's room on Fridays after school starting February 3rd from 2:30 -3:30.  Permission slips are available from Mrs. Parson and they are in the grey tower outside of Mrs. Mako's room.  Forms are due Thursday, January 26th.

The MVMS PTA is pleased to sponsor 11 after school clubs and teams this year:

Community Outreach (fall and spring clubs) - Students design and implement initiatives to care for others in our community.  (Sept. - Dec.  AND  Feb. - May)

Astronomy - Students use the Skynet Junior Scholar program to photograph and learn about objects in space. (Sept. - Jan.)

Math Club - Students hone their math skills and prepare for local competitions. (Sept. - Jan.)

Culture Club - Students learn about the cultures of our world and celebrate their traditions. (Feb. - May)

School Play - Students prepare a musical theater production for the school. (Nov. - March)

Falcon Academic Team - Students hone their knowledge of academic subjects and prepare for local competitions. (Jan. - March)

Falcon Friends - Students in the Special Education and Standard Education programs socialize and have fun together. (late winter / early spring)

Oyster Gardeners - Students and their families raises oyster in Annapolis in order to restore the oyster reefs of the Chesapeake Bay. (Oct. - May)

Fantasy Football - Students use math to play in a fantasy football league. (Oct. - Dec.)

In addition, HCPSS funds the following 10 clubs:

Alpha Achievers Mentor Program:  Students in the MRHS Alpha Achievers program mentor students at MVMS. (spring)

Computer Coding For All - Students learn to code using brick style programs. (spring)

Badminton - Students play badminton in a recreational setting as a supplement to their PE lessons. (Nov.)

Strategy Games - Students socialize and have fun while playing a variety of strategy games, from chess to Dungeons and Dragons. (Nov. - Feb.)

Writers Guild - Students hone their writing skills and prepare works of poetry and non-fiction for submission to local contests. (Oct. - March)

Jazz Band - Students hone their musical skills by playing in a jazz ensemble that prepare musical selections for school events. (Oct. - March)

Basketball - Students play basketball in a recreational setting. (winter)

Tumbling - Students hone their tumbling skills in a recreational setting as a supplement to their PE lessons. (winter)

Archery - Students hone their archery skills in a recreational setting as a supplement to their PE lessons. (spring)

Talent Show - Students prepare an act for the school's annual talent show. (May - June)
